The bed/seating area concept

In this photo we can show you the thinking behind the bed/seating area we are creating right now. It is so practical but also comfortable! There will be 2 deep drawers under the bed area in those spaces you can see. Also a wine cellar and a big space for bedding in the form of underfloor hatches. You can see the amount of space available for these. By building like this you also create a very large boot space. The part of the ‘u’ that is closest to the back doors measures 3 ft in depth by just under 6 ft wide. The whole bed is a super king measuring 71 inches wide x 6ft 2 inches long. The fixed bedders can simply pull out the back bit about a foot, slot in a cushion, and leave the bed up. They still have the choice though… if they want to entertain visitors they can pop the bedding into a large purpose built floor hatch under the seating area floor and have a large social area that can seat 5 or 6. If there is a single person using it, they can either use one long side, or use the 71 inch x 3 ft part that forms the back of the bed. We are currently just finishing the memory foam mattress cushions which will complete this, making it super comfy. Also, we think, a lagun leg table will magically swing out into this space, it can also be used in the other part as an extra work surface. Our vans develop organically so we change the design almost daily until we have created a unique, beautiful and practical space… playing with it constantly is a source of incredible happiness, which soaks into the fabric of the build, filling it with an almost unworldly energy…. We never allow ourselves to forget from where we came, and how blessed we are now in this part of our dream life!
